Silver has been a valued asset throughout history. It was found as a free metal and easily worked into useful shapes and was widely used by early man. The beauty, weight and lack of corrosion made silver a store of value, and hence one of the earliest of metals to be used as a medium of exchange. Ancient coins are still found today at archeological sites in original quality as when minted more than a thousand years ago.

Today, the demands of modern technology have revealed the remarkable range of electrical, mechanical, optical, and medicinal properties that have placed silver as the key metal in many applications.
Silver is the best metal for conducting electricity.
The automotive industry in the USA consumes $900 million worth of silver every year. The electrical transmission industry uses about $2 billion a year.

More silver is consumed than is mined every year. The stockpile of silver is deminishing quickly. Many silver mines have closed. Recent price actions in the silver market are indicative of looming shortages at these prices.

It is amazing how much money is pouring into a few mining stocks. Some mining stocks have exceeded their estimated potential ore in the ground by a factor of X3. Just to break even these prices need gold to triple in price and have no expenses in bringing it to market.

It is ironic that if only half of this money would go into bullion the price would triple on the spot market.
It is also ironic that with all the counterfeit cureency floating around that the pendulum may return to gold and silver coins in circulation as in the past  prior to the invention of paper money.
